What makes your fire rescue saws different from standard construction saws?

Fire rescue saws are purpose-built for the fireground. Key differences include:

  • Engine and filtration designed for high-demand, high-debris environments
  • Specialty cobalt guide bars and chains or blades optimized for roofing materials, composites, metals, and other building components.
  • Large, glove-friendly controls and ergonomics designed for use with full PPE
  • Features that support fast starts, reliable operation, and safe handling in extreme conditions

These details help firefighters cut quickly and safely during ventilation or forcible entry operations.

When should we consider your mobile ventilation unit (MVU) instead of multiple standard PPV fans?

An MVU is typically used when you need very large airflow for big or complex volumes—such as high-rise buildings, tunnels, large warehouses, transit facilities, or industrial incidents.

Departments and agencies consider MVUs when:

  • A standard PPV fan will not move enough air for the size of the structure in a timely manner
  • When you have the need to ventilate long distances or multiple openings
  • You need a shared, regional-scale resource for major incidents
Are your products tested or certified to any standards?

Many Tempest products are tested against relevant industry standards where applicable (for example, firefighting equipment, electrical safety, or performance standards).

Ventilation:
AMCA provides testing of the aerodynamic performance of Positive Pressure Ventilators (PPVs), particularly those used in firefighting, including the crucial entrained air (or induced air) that significantly boosts airflow through a doorway. Most of our firefighting fans are AMCA 240 Tested where indicated.

Ventilation manufactured by our partner Leader Group are tested according to standards set by the University of Le Havre in France.

Fluorine-Free foams:
Tested according to their usage. USDA Forest Service, Greenscreen, MIL-PRF-32725, UL listed, NFPA 18, EN 1568 1-2-3, VERITAS, CEREN and each are biodegradable.

Compliance and certifications vary by product or model. For detailed information, please refer to the product spec sheet.

What is a PPV fan and how is it used?

PPV (Positive Pressure Ventilation) fans create a controlled cone of air that pressurizes a structure and pushes smoke, heat, and toxic gases out through an exhaust opening. Firefighters position the fan outside an entry point and coordinate exhaust openings to improve visibility, reduce heat, and create a safer environment for interior crews and victims.

What are the benefits of an ECOCAF systems?

The ECOCAF system offer improved fire knockdown speed, reduced water usage, enhanced safety for firefighters, better coverage on Class A and Class B fires, and longer-lasting foam blankets that prevent re-ignition.

What ECOCAF Systems do for Agriculture/Farmers
  • Rapid knockdown of Class A fires (crop residue, hay, grain dust, wood barrels, fields) and Class B fires (fuel, alcohol, oils, chemicals).
  • Foam blankets and cools hot surfaces, starving the fire of oxygen and reducing re-ignition risk — even in spontaneous-combustion scenarios.
  • Environmentally friendly runoffs are safe for fields, vineyards, and waterways.
  • Available as portable kits or fixed systems for tractors, combines, grain facilities, wineries, and farm shops.

Which battery platforms are supported on your battery-powered fans?

We know that every department has their battery preferences, so our battery fan platform supports your favorite battery flavors. We worked directly with the battery manufacturers below to get the most power out of each platform for easy fleet integration.

  • VS1.x MILWAUKEE® M18™ REDLITHIUM™ HIGH OUTPUT™ HD12.0 Batteries
  • VS1.x DEWALT® FLEXVOLT® 20V/60V MAX* 12.0 Ah Batteries
  • VS1.x HURST® Jaws of Life® E3™/EWXT™ 9Ah Batteries
  • VS1.x Tempest Proprietary platforms
  • BB16 Tempest Proprietary platforms
How do I choose the right PPV fan (battery vs electric vs gas) for my department?

Each power type has advantages:

  • Battery-powered
fans: Fast to deploy, low noise, no exhaust, ideal for interior operations, EMS calls, and departments that want clean, low-maintenance equipment.
  • Electric fans: Great where reliable power is available on the apparatus or at the scene; often preferred for industrial or station use.
  • Gas-powered fans: High airflow and long run times, well suited for exterior firefighting operations where exhaust gases are less of a concern.

The “right” fan depends on your typical structures, power availability, deployment style, and policies on exhaust and emissions.

Is an ECOCAF system difficult to maintain?

Nope! The ECOCAF system is designed for durability and ease of maintenance. Regular inspections and following manufacturer guidelines ensure reliable performance in the field.

How Does The ECOCAF Stop or Suppress Fire?

Stop / Suppress Fires:

  • Farm Equipment (Tractors & Combines): Crop residue on hot engines, hydraulic/fuel leaks, electrical shorts, overheated bearings, and belts.
  • Farm Fields: Wildfires in dry grass/stubble, sparks from machinery or adjacent roads, escaped controlled burns.
  • Grain Bins & Silos: Dust explosions, overheated grain/spontaneous combustion, welding/grinding, grain dryers overheating or leaking fuel.
  • Stored Hay and Straw: Spontaneous combustion in high moisture bales due to fermentation and internal heating.
  • Wineries & Vineyards: Barrel storage (Class A), alcohol vapors (Class B), equipment heat, wildfire exposure, chemical storage near ignition sources.
How does an ECOCAF System Suppress Fire?

All ECOCAF systems use the same BIO FOR N fluorine-free foam concentrate to produce biodegradable, non-toxic suppression foam.

Farmers can stage ECOCAF 3, ECOCAF 30, ECOCAF 60, and ECOCAF 120 in high-risk areas to shorten response times, reduce equipment and crop losses, and demonstrate proactive suppression to insurers.
