FIREFIGHTING BLOWERS PPV/PPA
Each fire blower/fan manufactured by TEMPEST has been carefully inspected and tested to ensure very rapid room pressurization using Positive Pressure Ventilation (PPV).
The perfectly balanced power of TEMPEST firefighting fans unquestionably provides an operational advantage to firefighters. Firefighting Ventilation Blowers are split into five categories:
- Battery Blowers/fans
- Electric Power Blowers/fans
- Gas Powered Power Blowers/fans
- Hydraulic Mobile Ventilation Units (MVU)
- Smoke Ejectors
- Water Power Blowers
The blowers range from air-flows of 3,200 to over 150,000 cfm, guaranteeing real efficiency during each rescue, attack, protection, or smoke removal operation, with easy setup.
To best adapt to different specific operational situations, like booster ventilation, TEMPEST also offers a range of battery-powered blower/fans which can be easily carried by a single firefighter. This battery-powered range of blowers is also perfect for PPV/PPA due to the high cfm output and battery life. Compact and self-contained they can work closely to the fire, providing a flow of around 11,000 cfm for 70 minutes.
The range is completed with the MVU (Mobile Ventilation Unit) with a flow of 150,000 cfm. For explosive atmospheres, TEMPEST offers a sucking and blowing confined Space fans to remove dangerous gases securely and quickly, thanks to its 3200 cfm or the 11,804 cfm airflow from the High-Performance model. Each blower/fan is designed so a single adult can easily carry it. The ergonomic design makes it easy to store in response vehicles.

Gasoline-powered fans offer the highest CFM performance available. Ranging anywhere from 4.8 to 8.5 HP, these positive pressure ventilation fans are recommended for the implementation of Positive Pressure Attack (PPA) in residential structures.

The Special Operations (SP) Power Blower™ uses a uniquely designed grill and shroud to produce a narrow, high-pressure air pattern called Laminar Air Flow. Fires in large, complex structures as well as multi-level structures build high back pressures inside the building. This high-pressure air pattern is capable of overcoming these back pressures resulting in uninhibited ventilation. This allows for a distanced set-back reducing fan noise heard inside the structure.

This design also allows for rapid blower direction adjustment saving time and improving safety. Tempest blowers have no need for wheel brakes. This in turn removes the chance for forgetting to set/release the brakes.

- HONDA® GX200 AND GX270 ENGINES
The SP positive pressure ventilation fans are powered by the tried and true Honda® name. Using two of their most reliable small engines, the GX200 and GX270, paired with Tempest’s signature quality fan designs, these units are built to last. At 5.5 and 8.5 HP, the GX series motors are also equipped to deliver the performance and CFM you’d expect from the Tempest name.

The rear wheel design improves the PPV fan balance while it is rolling, keeping the shroud from touching the ground and making deployment easy across snow, heavy mud or rough, uneven terrain. This design also allows for rapid blower direction adjustment saving time and improving safety. Tempest blowers have no need for wheel brakes. This in turn removes the chance for forgetting to set/release the brakes.

One of the benefits of a single speed electric motor is its ability to be readily built into an explosion proof housing. The Single Speed EP motor option is rated to operate safely in Class I, Groups C & D and Class II, Groups F & G environments. When dealing with potentially flammable environment, EP is a must. Risk of getting clothing in the positive pressure fan’s blades while kneeling to set brake levers is eliminated. 16″ models are only available with 6″ non-pneumatic tires.

By redesigning the inward curve and front of the shroud, the Turbo 2000 increases air velocity by up to 30%. The air hitting the ventilation opening is stronger and maintains PPV pressure farther downwind.
